Weekly Notes for Week 26
This week (26) we will start with PCA (principal component analysis) and QSAR (Quantitative structure–activity relationship) methods.
-
Mandatory Reading:
– (PCA): A Tutorial on Principal Component Analysis (Jonathon Shlens).
Exercises 08 (in class, no submission, in addition to PDF):
1.) Practical Assignment 1 : I will present a strategy of how the first assignment (Catalan) can be solved.
2.) PCA : I will demonstrate how multiplying a matrix P (composed of new basis vectors) by a matrix X (representing data) can be understood as a change of basis for data representation.
3.) I will demonstrate Kirchhoff’s Matrix Tree Theorem in order to show that the following graph (left) indeed has eight spanning trees (right).
